KidsCAN is High school kids helping kids who are dealing with cancer
Each year, KidsCAN award scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have cancer or have a parent or sibling with cancer. CAN formed a Junior Board of Directors comprised of local high school students in 2008. In 2015, thirty-one students were on the Junior Board representing seven schools (Naples High, Community School, Seacrest Country Day, Gulf Coast, Barron Collier, Golden Gate and Palmetto Ridge).
The KIDSCAN Junior Board supports CAN in its fundraising efforts while emphasizing Kids Helping Kids, a program designed to assist kids with cancer or whose parents or siblings have cancer. They participate in multiple fundraising events throughout the year including the annual bike ride, selling tickets to a Florida Everblades hockey game, delighting kids with holiday toys, and the annual Family Retreat. Over 100 participated in the United Way Walk.
Friends of KIDSCAN kids are joining the effort with KIDSCAN clubs being formed in local high schools, and Junior Board Members leading the way.
Public and private Collier County high schools earned money to award scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have cancer or
whose parents or siblings have cancer.
